Why Am I Here?

ep07 hero

Why am I here?

Everyone has held this question at least once, looking up at the night sky. Why am I in this time, this place, this body, this situation? Why these parents, this country, this era, of all of them?

Sometimes in resentment, sometimes in curiosity, sometimes inside a deep loneliness, we ask: "Why on earth am I here?"

And most of us try to find the answer outside. Fate, God's will, coincidence, karma...

But the real answer is much closer, and much deeper.

Every thread makes one cloth

Think of a life as a length of cloth. That cloth is woven from countless threads.

Some threads are bright, some dark. Some are thick and strong, some fine and delicate. Some shine, some are rough.

The things we call wounds, the things we treat as problems, the things we think of as bad luck... all of them are threads weaving this cloth.

The relationship with your parents, the childhood injury, being frozen out at school, the ache of a first love, a dream that fell apart, an ending you didn't see coming...

Each one was painful and impossible to understand at the time, but looking back you know every one of those threads was a necessary element in finishing the cloth that is you today.

The necessity of everything that looked like coincidence

"Why did I meet that person exactly then?" "Why did that happen at that precise moment?" "Why did that particular wound come to me?"

These questions follow one another through a life. And we call it coincidence.

But from the weaver's side, every thread has its place. No thread is laid down at random.

Every person you've met, every event you've lived through, every emotion you've felt...

They gathered into the singular, beautiful pattern that is you now.

If even one of them had been missing, the you of today would not exist. Without that wound, you would have no depth; without that failure, you would have no wisdom.

ep07 01

A wound is a thread, not a scar

We treat wounds as scars. An ugly mark left on a life, a shameful past we want to hide...

But a wound isn't a scar. It's a thread. Precious material that completes the cloth of you.

Think about what that wound taught you. How to feel with someone, how to forgive, how to endure... things you could never have learned without it.

The wound of not being loved enough by your parents made you someone who can love more deeply. Being betrayed shaped you into someone who longs for a truer kind of relationship. The pain of failure matured you into someone humbler and wiser.

Your wound didn't make you weak. It was the thread that wove you into a more complete human being.

My own pattern, my own story

Every cloth is different. Woven from the same materials, the pattern can never be identical.

Your life is the same. No one else can live a life exactly like yours, and you can't live anyone else's.

"Why can't I live like other people?" "Why is mine the complicated, difficult one?"

There are times we throw those questions out. But it's like a rose asking, "Why can't I grow like a sunflower?"

You are woven into a pattern that is yours. Your complexity, your difficulty, your strangeness... all of it is part of a beautiful cloth only you can make.

The meaning of here, now, this place

"Why now, of all times?" "Why here, of all places?"

We often long for a different time, a different place. "If I'd been born in a better era..." "If I'd grown up somewhere else..."

But there's a reason this moment, this place, was given to you.

A weaver doesn't put a thread just anywhere. Each thread has its position, and a pattern that can only be made from that position.

It's the same with you being here. This era, this society, this environment... here and now is the stage best suited for your consciousness to learn and grow.

Everything you're facing here — the difficulty in a relationship, financial pressure, social change... those are teaching materials prepared precisely to expand your consciousness.

Every meeting has a reason

Think of everyone you've met. Family, friends, lovers, colleagues... even the people who hurt you.

All of them are collaborators who took part in weaving your cloth.

One taught you love, one taught you forgiveness, one taught you how to set a boundary, one taught you how to trust yourself.

Even the person who betrayed you, even the person who wounded you, was in the end a teacher who helped you become stronger and wiser.

We assume only good experiences make us grow, but in practice the hard ones bring the deeper growth.

Pain is the most powerful catalyst for waking consciousness.

The reason I'm here is me

"Why am I here?"

The deepest answer to that question is this. Because of me.

The particular consciousness that is me, the one perspective that is me, the specific way of loving that is me...

All of it is here to be expressed into this world.

Without me the universe is incomplete. The way I see, the emotions I feel, the relationships I create, the love I express...

All of it is a singular and precious way the universe experiences itself.

You are not here because you have to do something special. You are here because your existing is itself special.

At the crossing point of the threads

Look back over your life again. How every event, every meeting, every choice led to the you of now...

Inside that tangled, complicated pattern of threads, what do you find?

At first, probably, only confusion. Why these things happened, why you met these people, random events that make no sense at all...

But look at the pattern from a little further back, from a little higher up, and you find an astonishing order.

Every thread is exactly in place. Every meeting happened when it was needed. Every wound made you more complete.

You stand at the crossing point of countless threads. Threads from the past and threads heading toward the future meet, in this moment, at the point that is you.

ep07 02

The perfection of here, now, this moment

"Why am I here?"

To answer that question we go looking through complicated philosophy and mysterious theories.

But the answer is astonishingly simple.

Because here and now is where you are supposed to be.

This is not resignation. This is deep trust.

Everything you are experiencing right now — the joy, the pain, the confusion, the calm — is what your consciousness needs to experience in this moment.

If you were supposed to be somewhere else, you would already be there. If you were supposed to be in a different situation, you would already be in it.

The universe doesn't make mistakes. Your being here now is a perfect placement.

The thread I weave, the thread that weaves me

What's interesting is that we are the thread being woven and the weaver at the same time.

Past experiences made me, but the me of now chooses how to read them. Past wounds defined me, but the me of now decides what to do with them.

I am a being woven from the threads I was given, and at the same time the creator weaving the threads in front of me.

The thread my parents gave me, the thread society gave me, the thread a wound left behind... I was made from those.

But now I can choose how to weave them, what pattern to make, what colour to finish it in.

The flower that blooms where you were wounded

The most beautiful flowers grow in poor soil. The deepest wisdom is born from the greatest pain.

The place where you hurt the most, the moment you collapsed hardest, the time you were loneliest...

That is exactly where your most valuable gift grew.

A wound leaves a hole. And light comes in through the hole.

Your pain didn't make you weak. Your pain made you transparent. It let you see other people's pain, feel with them more deeply, love more honestly.

One of the reasons you are here is that transparency. So that love can flow into the world through the window that is you.

I am where I'm needed

"What am I even doing here?" There are times that thought arrives.

At work, in a relationship, in some situation... the feeling that you're in the wrong place.

But the truth is this. You are always where you are needed.

Sometimes to learn, sometimes to teach, sometimes to heal, sometimes to be healed...

Your existence brings the energy that space needs.

Because you are there, someone finds courage, someone is comforted, someone discovers hope.

You just didn't know it — you have already been a saving thread for someone.

The beauty of an unfinished cloth

We keep chasing completion. We want to be complete people, to live perfect lives.

But cloth is most beautiful while it's being woven. Threads meeting each other, the pattern slowly surfacing, a new colour joining in...

A cloth becoming is more alive and more interesting than a cloth finished.

Your life is the same. You are not a completed being. You are a being in the making.

Every day a new thread is added, every moment a new pattern appears, every experience makes you richer.

The things you consider unfinished, the problems you haven't solved, the dreams you haven't reached...

All of it is what makes the cloth of you dynamic and alive.

The new thread that starts here

If all the threads of the past made the you of now, the you of now is making the threads of the future.

The question "why am I here?" eventually turns into another one.

"What thread am I going to make from here?"

What you choose in this moment, the love you express right here, the wisdom you're learning in this place...

All of it becomes new thread, making the cloth of you and of the world more beautiful.

ep07 03

Finally

"Why am I here?"

The answer isn't in a grand mission or a lofty purpose.

The answer is very simple.

Because here and now is your place.

The place the thread that is you belongs, the place the colour that is you is needed, the place the pattern that is you has to be completed...

Here and now is that place.

Every thread of the past led you here, and the you of now is making the threads of the future.

On the enormous cloth called the universe, you are one of the most important threads.

Without you, that cloth cannot be finished.

So stop asking, "Why am I here?"

Say this instead. "I am here now. And that alone is perfect."

That you are here is the most beautiful miracle in the universe.
